Ma.Te.A-
Designers can be inspired by many different things - usually something they have seen. Maybe something in the studio, or at the book store, or while waiting for a bus. Whatever it is and wherever it comes from, inspiration triggers a response and forces you to the drawing board.
Matea has been surrounded by fashion victims all her life. Her grandmother was a fashion designer and tailor and this was where her early ideas on fashion were derived. When she began designing her first line of women’s clothing, Ma.Te.A, her inspirations came from classy, sassy and classic clothing styles that have been around for decades.
When thinking about the colours and fabrics used, Matea chose flattering and comfortable fabrics suitable for the female form, such as Viscose/Elastane blends, Polyester/Viscose blends, silks and cotton Elastane blends. She believes a designer should always think about the person who will use what they create.
The idea for each season is to produce a collection of timeless clothing with classic cuts that will last a lifetime.
